Used some tiny graphite fadey one strokes throughout the mag.

Article about skateboarding and the Olympics. They asked to reproduce my bank painting, as well as some spot illustrations. It's a great article about the exploitation of skateboarding and the skate-able infrastructure that is built for Olympic events. All the photo's contained in this article are of people skating Olympic plazas worldwide. Bump.

Searching through there drawers of type led me to this typeface.

Sketching.
Watercolour and ink.The bottom polymer plate was "engraved" from a hand drawn negative that i rendered, and printed in a light yellowish oil.

I just finished an edition with Purgatory Pie Press. Edition of 52- made of one uppercase, and one lowercase "lettered" editions, printed on Rives de Lin, three colors. 14" x 18" signed on the reverse.

Wall / Law Revisited

You might remember this concept form a previous post, from a print that was made for my show at Day One back in October. One day I checked my email to find a daring proposal to take over an abandoned building in Bushwick Brooklyn, and create art installations with a group of 10 individuals. I knew right away that i wanted to work with this WALL/LAW concept. It holds more ground on a wall in an abandoned building..- the idea of the law and walls to climb were ever present in this social environment. The opening was great, ear to ear grins all around. New Providence Island

Snapped this one down in the Caribbean a couple of weeks ago. Was expecting to see more handpainted imagery/adverts,- found hardly any. Found this one in Gambier, which is subsequently the first village of the island (post Arawak Indian slaughter) and creepily enough was one of the earliest plantations of the Bahamian islands.

Space 1026 has allways been a positve place in my life- whether it be a meetup after getting off the bus, a place to crack jokes with Bill, or an inspiration booster- it has always been a good thing. I did the lettering for the Gallery in a 4 hour marathon. Next time i would have done it all "jangle" font like the bottom line, and spent one hour on it. Oh well...i put these little dudes in there as well:

I wanted to screenprint these but 54 originals at editions of 10 is way too much printing (540 prints?). After my commercial letterpress days i have a strong phobia of printing anything over 100- thanks for the bum knees commercial letterpress! For now i will just use a xerox machine. I sold all the prints for 7$. Email me if you want some. All originals drawn at 8.5 X 11.

I just Finished lettering/ designing these DVD cases for my friend Dan Eng. He films 100% RAW east coast street skating-the video has great music and the skating rips. I shot the Super 8mm for this flick. Email me if you would like a copy.

I hand lettered these and then did the rest in the computer. I left the type as is except for a few sizing adjustments (to the page). The background photo's are 35mm shots i took in the last year or so.

i hand lettered this guy at actual size then xeroxed it. all other images are drawings from my sketchbook that i reduced on a copy machine. the inside foldout is a color print at actual size. email me if you want one (trades?).

Brownstone JONES

I painted this for the brownstone i live in. I created this font using a combination of others, namely, a Roman font i found in an old sign painters book from the 1950's. I elongated the serif to give it a more ornate "Brownstone Jones" flavor.

This hand lettered door to a Psychic Advisor is dense with imagery and symbols. Techniques of lettering were adapted and co-opted by this sign painter just as the black sharpie slashies/ and "Crip" symbols are passed down to a younger generation of gangbangers. Different Strokes for different Blokes it's all a matter of territory.
